The Castello’s Hotel Group is a small group of hotels situated throughout metropolitan Melbourne. Castello’s has a sophisticated approach to the use Information Technology throughout the Hotels venues, linking together point of sale, gaming, accounts and finance. This use of technology reduces the administrative burden on the hotel staff allowing them to focus on servicing customers whilst maximising efficiency and productivity.

The Castello’s Hotel Group had been running on a Small Business Server 2000 platform since 2002 as this had met their needs. However as the executive’s required greater collaborative facilities from remote locations, Total Network Support recommended an upgrade to the existing messaging system. Utilising a solution comprised of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Microsoft ActiveSync, the executives are now able to access and interact with all calendaring & task functionality as well as messaging and contact interaction.

Driven by a new business requirement to decentralise the administration tasks to the individual venues, a terminal services infrastructure was designed and deployed. This terminal services infrastructure consisted of two servers running Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services mode, in a load-balanced configuration to provide high-availability.This permitted staff at each venue to access centralised finance, rostering and document management systems.
